Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time

Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time
February 18th, 2007

St. Xavier Parish Home Page

Brother and sisters, the Holy Spirit draws us together on this sacred day to hear words that are at the center of our Christian belief. As this Mass begins, let us pray that we will take these words to heart, for they have the power to transform not only our lives; they have the power to transform our world.

If you want to be like God, Jesus says, then love your enemies. Don't expect prepayment of loans. Give to every beggar. If someone steals from you, hand the person even more. That is what God does. In showing selfless compassion to others, we are living according to our true nature, created in the likeness of God. These are challenging words. We need the strenght that comes only from God in order to embrace them. As the word of God is proclaimed, let us as God to strengthen us in our commitment to follow Christ.

Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time
February 11th, 2007

St. Xavier Parish Home Page

Sister and brothers, how blessed are we who are gathered to celebrate the death and resurrection of Christ. We rejoice in God's presence on this sacred day and offer ourselves to God with humility and reverence.
Last weekend, we heard the story of the call of the prophet Isaiah and the call of the first apoltles. Like them, we are given the choice to follow the Lord or turn away. Today the stark contrast between those who say "yes" and those who say "no" is laid before us. As the sacred word is porclaimed this day, let us pray fervently that by our actions we will show forth to the world that we are the blessed ones of God.

WORLD MARRIAGE DAY

The theme for World Marriage Day is "Love One Another". Loving one another is a daily decision, simple but challenging. The World Marriage Day Symbol speaks readily of the roles and values we proclaim. Husband and wife are symbolically seen as two candle-like figures, reminding us that married love calls us to help enlighten the world. The couple is joined by a heart, focusing on love as the power that fosters unity within the couple and generates the capacity to be life-giving and inspire others to fruitfulness and unity.
The President has proclaimed the second Sunday in February as "World Marriage Day". It is being celebrated in all 50 states of our country, under the sponsorship of Worldwide Marriage Encounter. Children learn love, security, permanence and stability from parents who love each other. Register for an upcoming Worldwide Marriage Encounter Weekend and see what a positive effect it has on your whole family. For more information call Dave and Susan Kisneer at 785-628-8952 or on line at www.westcentralkansasme.org

Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time
February 4th, 2007

St. Xavier Parish Home Page

Brother and sisters, sacred songs, sacred words, and sacred actions reveal a God who calls each one of us by name. As we gather around the tables of word and Eucharist, let us listen attentively to the Lord's call to conversion and discipleship. We give praise and thanks to our God, who knows each of us by name.
Today's readings are all about responding to the presence of God. Isaiah, Paul, and Peter react in similar fashion to God's presence. We believe that God comes to us when the sacred word is proclaimed. Let us repond to that living word with hearts filled with gratitude.

Next weekend we celebrate "World Marriage Weekend." This is a time to reflect on the beauty, challenges and invitations to love. We congratulate all couples in their commitment to each other in the presence of Christ. May your love reach to the ends of the earth as you continue to share your love with others.

We congratulate the young children of our parish, who received the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time this weekend. May they always experience the forgiving Lord throughout their lives.

St. Xavier Parish Home Page

Sisters and brothers, the Holy Spirit draws us together this winter day, to listen to God's word and to celebrate the love we share as God's children, baptized into Chist Jesus. Today we hear Saint Paul's hymn extolling the virtue of love. We praise God for the opportunity to know the love of Christ and to be transformed by it.
As the sacred word of God is proclaimed this day, let us be attentive to its power to transform us into people filled with the wonder of God's love.

The total Multi-Peril Insurance bill is $32,000.00. As we all know it is extremely important to have our parish covered. With payments that have been made and last months second collection of $2,872.00 designated for this outstanding bill, we still owe $25,628.00. Please prayerfully see where you can help out.
