Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time
February 4th, 2007
St. Xavier Parish Home Page
Brother and sisters, sacred songs, sacred words, and sacred actions reveal a God who calls each one of us by name. As we gather around the tables of word and Eucharist, let us listen attentively to the Lord's call to conversion and discipleship. We give praise and thanks to our God, who knows each of us by name.
Today's readings are all about responding to the presence of God. Isaiah, Paul, and Peter react in similar fashion to God's presence. We believe that God comes to us when the sacred word is proclaimed. Let us repond to that living word with hearts filled with gratitude.
Next weekend we celebrate "World Marriage Weekend." This is a time to reflect on the beauty, challenges and invitations to love. We congratulate all couples in their commitment to each other in the presence of Christ. May your love reach to the ends of the earth as you continue to share your love with others.
We congratulate the young children of our parish, who received the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time this weekend. May they always experience the forgiving Lord throughout their lives.
MULTI-PERIL INSURANCE
The total Multi-Peril Insurance bill is $32,000.00. As we all know it is extremely important to have our parish covered. With payments that have been made and last months second collection of $2,872.00 designated for this outstanding bill, we still owe $25,628.00. Please prayerfully see where you can help out. Next weeks second collection will be used to help pay some of this coverage.
