Twenty-Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time

Twenty-Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time
October 8th, 2006

St. Xavier Parish Home Page

God our heavenly Father calls us together this day, through the power of the Holy Spirit, to celebrate the presence of Christ in word and sacrament. We come as single people, as parents and grandparents, as children, as those blessed with loving relationships. Here we become one at the tables of the word and the Eucharist. We are challenged, comforted, and nourished to go forthfrom this place to share the good news of salvation. We begin this Mass praising and thanking God for the gifts of one another.
Today's scriptures draw us into the biblical images of faithful love between spouses and the care that we must extend to children. As we listen to these readings, let us be especially mindful of those who struggle with marital fidelity as well as families in which children do not receive the care and respect they deserve. Let us be open to the power of God's living word to transform us all into faithful withnesses to the marvels God has worked through human relationships.
