Second Sunday in Ordinary Time

Second Sunday in Ordinary Time
January 14th, 2006

St. Xavier Parish Home Page

Sisters and brothers, gathered together through the power of the Holy Spirit, today we hear the familiar story of the wedding feast at Cana, the first of the miracles of the Lord Jesus. Each week we witness a miracle in the holy place when bread and wine are changed into Christ's body and blood. Let us praise God for this miracle that continually transforms us into God's holy people.
The three Gospel stories the Church celebrates as "epiphanies" are the visit of the magi to the newborn Jesus, the baptism of Jesus in the Jordan, and the wedding feast at Cana. As we gather around the Lord at the wedding feast, let us pray that we will be transformed more and more into the image of Christ, manifesting his presence to those we meet.

Father Al will be atttending the annual Diosesan Priest Renewal Day Conference in Wichita on the 16-17 and 18 of January. In case of an emergency contact the Parish Office at 238-2998 or Sister Mary Jo Thummel at 762-2599.

Many women who have abortions want to say "yes" to the life in their womb, but the people around them - the counselors they consult, the boyfriends, husbands, parents, many doctors and the culture - all point to "saving the woman" through abortion. If you are one of these women or men who has paricipated in an abortion decision, you can say "yes" now -- "yes" to the forgiveness, the love and the mercy of Jesus.
Find out how much He loves you.
