Transfiguration of the Lord

Transfiguration of the Lord
August 6th, 2006

St. Xavier Parish Home Page

With the apostles Peter, James, and John, we climb God's holy mountain of transformation. Moved by the presence of the transfigured Christ, we lift our voices in prayer and praise.

What wonderful readings the Church proclaims today. The prophet Daniel sees into heaven and describes it as a place of brilliant fire. Jesus and three disciples climb a mountain and enter into heaven's brilliance. Moses and Elijah - the witnesses of the law and the prophets - join them in a "homecoming" of Christ the disciples and the ancestors. With Perer we raise our voices in joy, proclaiming, "How good it is for us to be here."
