Pentecost

Pentecost
June 4th, 2006

St. Xavier Parish Home Page

Welcome back, sorry about skipping last week, my computer system was down and my work schedule was hectic. The current vital infomation is included with this one.
Now, back on track.

The Holy Spirit draws us together in overwhelming gladness on this sacred day of days. More than ninty days ago, on Ash Wednesday, we began our journey of conversion from darkness to light, from winter to spring, from death to new life. Today, on the day of Pentecost, the journey is completed. Filled with the gifts of the Holy Spirit, we celebrate this Mass longing to taste and see the goodness of the Lord.
Our fifty-day celebration of Easter culminates on this day when we remember with vigor the inrushing of the Holy Spirit upon the disciples. As we listen to the words of scripture today, let us open our hearts to a renewal within ourselves and within the entire Church. Let us pray that the Spirit will take hold in us and strengthens us on our mission to bring food to the hungry, shelter to the homeless, and justice to those who are oppressed.

Veni Sancte Spiritus.

Come Holy Spirit.
