The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ
The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ
June 18th, 2006
St. Xavier Parish Home Page
The Holy Spirit brings us together today to give praise and honor to Jesus Christ, whose body and blood we share each week at the Eucharistic table. We come to this holy place hungering for Gog's word and God's presence. As this holy Mass begins, let us be aware that we, too, are Christ's body. Today, then, is a celebrations about the Eucharist and about us, the Body of Christ.
Today's Gospel tells the story of the preparation of the place where Jesus and his disciples were to eat the Last Supper. During the meal, the new covenant in Christ's blood was established as an everlasting covenant that we celbrate to this day. As today's Gospel is proclaimed, let us remember that is is at the table of the Eucharist that we can truly be transformed. Here at this table we taste newness of life.
